The painting depicts a hunting party made up of T. Walters; A. Ross; Cap. Rose; Neil; C. Dando; Geo. Goodwin; and W.A. Goodwin. The hunters were rewarded with 10 deer; the trip being described in the May 1894 edition of Forest & Stream, a popular American magazine focused on hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. 1898.
