Flying Frenchmen

Do you wonder how Lumby’s first hockey team became known as the Flying Frenchmen? It was because the majority of the team, indeed the nucleus of the roster were of French Canadian descent.
Lumby’s Flying Frenchmen were the winners of the 1939 Coy Cup.

The Coy Cup is awarded annually to the Senior AA Amateur Hockey Champions in British Columbia.
The Coy Cup was donated by Colonel Coy of the 50th Gordon Highlanders. The cup was first awarded to the Enderby Hockey Club, champions of the 1922-1923 season.
