Lumby Elementary School
Cecile Daigneault Collection
In 1912, a two room school known as Lumby Primary School was built by Dave Wilson and Oliver Bonnerville. The land was donated by Bill Shields. In 1916, a third room was added.
The school was used until 1973 when it was condemned for health and safety reasons.
The last teachers to teach at Lumby Primary School were: Grade 1: Tosh Tabata and Norma Barnes; Grade 2: Anne Bartlett and Marion Davies.
Today, the site of Lumby’s Primary School is a grass hockey field at Charles Bloom High School.
