Livestock competition
Charlie Catt Collection
The Lumby District Agricultural Society was created October 1921 and hosted the livestock competition during the Lumby Fall Fair. The Fall Fair was a one-day event organized by volunteers. Judges came from out of town. Competition was fierce as farmers showed their best cattle and horses.
One of Lumby’s most respected ranchers was H.C. Catt. In 1941, Mr. Catt sent a carload of his Shorthorn cattle by train to the Interior Exhibition in Armstrong. Mr. Catt won an astonishing 13 titles including Junior Championship, Reserve Grand Championship and Reserve Senior Championship.
