Photo of the HM Wireless Station
Photographer unknown. Circa 1914–18. Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador. “Photo of the HM Wireless Station.” H.M. Wireless Collection, 27-Scott. Admiralty House Communications Museum.
The HM Wireless Station in Mount Pearl during the First World War. The Station comprised the two large buildings in the centre of the photograph. The long building on the right (at the foot of the wireless tower and surrounded by fencing) was the transmissions building. The long building next to it was a residence for the operators. It still stands today. Only one of the three aerial towers is pictured. This photo was not taken from a plane—but by someone who had climbed one of the towers.
