Christmas booklet (second image)
Maude Abbott wrote a great deal. From correspondence to scientific writings to poetry, she practiced her gift for writing on many levels. This Christmas poetry booklet contains three poems written in her apartment on Sherbrooke Street in Montreal.
“What happened?” Distant seemed my voice,
Far, far away from here.
“A motor knocked you down”, I heard
In words close to my ear.
…
So thus you see it’s been worth while
Knocked round a bit to be –
I’ve learned a Surgeon great to know
And sensed Eternity.
