In September 1934, seeing her sister’s health deteriorate, Maude Abbott approached McLean Hospital about the possibility of transferring Alice there. Located in Massachusetts, the McLean was affiliated with Harvard Medical School and offered special mental health and psychiatry care.  The cost of the stay was $25.00 per week.
