St. Andrews in 1844

View of the village of St. Andrews by the artist Solomon around 1844. This painting belonged to Jemima Beattie, owner of the Beattie Hotel in St. Andrews. Following a family move, the painting ended up in Chicago, then in New York State, before joining the Argenteuil Regional Museum’s collection in 1935. When Professor Maranzi restored it in 1970, he discovered the following inscription at the bottom of the painting: View of St. Andrews L C from Abbot’s Hill October 1844.
