This booklet was created by the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway, a Crown corporation of the province of Ontario. Inside are glowing reviews of the rich farming land found in the districts of Temiskaming and Cochrane.

These types of publications were used by the Ontario government to attract settlers to those areas with calls to action, such as:

Ontario is essentially an agricultural country, and one of Great Britain’s hardest problems is the food supply. These great vacant tracts of the North-land, filled with people and under cultivation, might easily solve the problem and the people of Ontario would not only have solved one of the greatest of the Empire’s difficulties, but would undoubtedly be carrying out what was destined by Providence for them when He endowed them with the power and surrounded them with circumstances making His intention so manifest.
