It was not rare to see members of the 1960s underground exchange services to support each other.
Peter Lebensold was co-publisher of the Take One film magazine and a friend of Gary Eisenkraft’s. In this interview, he recalls distributing Take One at The New Penelope. In exchange, Gary Eisenkraft could publish free ads in the magazine.
On this Take One ad, Gary Eisenkraft promotes The New Penelope as well as his services as a soundtrack and filming consultant.

Peter Lebensold: The reason I knew The New Penelope was because I inveigled them into selling copies of the magazine, of Take One. […] Any place that young people were likely to gather was a place where we thought the magazine might sell. It didn’t always, but you know, people were aware of it and so forth.
