Musée Curie, 1920s
Founded in 1909 in Paris, the Radium Institute was a joint project between the Paris University and the Pasteur Institute to further research into radiation, physics and biology. This allowed for the study of the radioactive element’s potential medical applications. Marie Curie was the first Director of its Physics Department. Today, the Paris Radium Institute is part of the Curie Institute.
