(Left) Brochure entitled Principes d’hygiène (hygiene principles) from the Commission for the Prevention of Tuberculosis by the Swiss Red Cross. The document mentions how curing tuberculosis requires time and patience. It lists several measures to prevent tuberculosis, the first letter of each item making up the word “tuberculosis.”
(Right) This propaganda-style poster was part of a series created by Georges Dorival and Georges Capon on the subject of tuberculosis and the First World War. These are but two examples of the various public health campaigns against tuberculosis from the early 20th century. These posters were regularly used throughout the French-speaking world. On the document a slogan reads: “Tuberculosis must be defeated like the vicious reptile that it is.”
