Dr. Origène Dufresne
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, date unknown
Hired in May 1929, Origène Dufresne—whether directly or indirectly— lived through a major part of the Institute’s history. First working as a doctor, then serving as a board member, and, after Dr. Gendreau’s departure, as the Institute’s new director, Origène Dufresne was also a professor at his alma mater, the University of Montreal, where he was a Rockefeller Foundation fellow from 1926 to 1929. He was still director of the Institute when it closed down in 1967.
