First Pages of the Grey Nuns’ Journals, 1927

During their years of service at the Radium Institute, the Grey Nuns, and more specifically the Director, wrote what they called a “journal de la maison,” or house journal. In it they compiled all of their activities and challenges from September 1927 to May 1936. The title of the document reads “Journal de la maison commencé le 19 septembre 1927 à mai 1936” [house journal started on September 19, 1927, to May 1936]. 

(Right) The document shows the first page of the journal featuring its very first entry, dated September 19, 1936. In it the nuns describe their departure from the Mother House and arrival at the Institute.
