William Henry Beaufort Aikins (1859–1924), a Toronto doctor and a pioneer of radiotherapy in Canada. In 1909, he founded the Radium Institute of Toronto, a private clinic located at 134 Bloor Street West. Since 1895, he had been the Editor in Chief of the Canadian Medical Review (which later became the Canadian Practitioner and Review, in 1899). He would take advantage of his position to promote radiotherapy. In 1916, he was unanimously elected first President of the American Radium Society.
