Arrival of the Grey Nuns at the Radium Institute
Archives des Sœurs Grises. Narrated by Gabrielle Poulin.
In their diary, the Grey Nuns describe their arrival at the Institute, in the heart of the working-class district of Maisonneuve:
Journal of the Grey Nuns, September 20, 1927.
Our first night in our new abode proved less than promising; the noise of trolleys, trucks, etc. was a bit bothersome. Let us hope that we will get used to it in time.
Today around fifty patients came in for consultations or treatments. Now the real work starts! Our hearts are somewhat heavy; we are so isolated here!
Mgr. Piette and Dr. Baril came to see us this afternoon. Mgr. the Rector assured us of his benevolent protection, then inquired how he might help us better settle in.
