Rosie, at home in Qualicum Beach

Since her discovery in 1979, Rosie has become quite a well-traveled lady. She made her first cross-country trip to the Museum of Natural History so that scientists there could reassemble her skeleton, and she remained there for a few years before being shipped back to Qualicum Beach. From then until 2011, she was the star of our museum’s palaeontology exhibit.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t stay forever; the Museum of Natural History eventually wanted her back, and so off Rosie went for her third cross-country trip, never to be seen again… Or so we thought! In October 2011, museum workers opened a crate from the Museum of Natural History to find what you see in the photo above: A life-sized cast of Rosie’s head, a lovely photo of her in her new home, and a couple of her original bones to complete the display.
