Much to their relief, nothing had disturbed the cast overnight, and the fibreglass was set enough to be removed.
Once they lifted it out of the rock, they could see that the cast showed a lot more detail than could be discerned from the impression in the rock. The ribbing on the shell, for example, is much more noticeable in the cast than the original impression.
