I’m Ann Zeppa and I was born in 1925. My father was employed at the Spanish River Company. Later the Abitibi, and then St. Mary’s. At my birth and my sister’s birth in 1923 they gave us each a silver cup that was engraved with our names and dates of birth as a gift from the Spanish River Company. My memories of my dad working there… We lived not too far from the mill, and when it was lunchtime and he was at work, we would take a nice hot lunch to him. We were able to go right into the mill where he worked. I think it was called the board room at that time. We would bring him a hot lunch and visit with him. Then, sometimes come home with a little jar of pulp that they gave us to take home to play with. Those were some of the memories that I had of the mill.
