The tail race of the power canal is under construction in this photograph. Workers quarry through solid sandstone to create room for the outflow of Clergue’s state of the art facility. Handwritten text at the bottom of the image gives the date, and image description: Pulp Mill No. 1 with Tail Race, Aug. 12 1895.
