Alcohol was concealed in freight cars carrying wood from sawmills with the collaboration of the sawmills’ owners or managers. Loading was done at night. Over 2,000 gallons could be concealed during a single night in a few cars of sawn and measured lumber, at the peak of the trafficking years.
