Demolition of the Saint-François-d’Assise Church, 1964
Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec
The last mass celebrated at the church was the Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve 1963. It was torn down just a few weeks later. A restitution agreement was passed between the parish and the Quebec government to fund the reconstruction of the church further east. The new church, inaugurated in 1966, is still open today.
