Canada along with other allies attempted to intervene in the Russian Civil War, hoping to aid the anti-communist White Russian forces. For this purpose, the “Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force” was formed and sent to Vladivostok. While crossing Canada by rail, they brought with them the deadly Spanish Flu and infected many communities including Port Coquitlam.
