Marathon of Hope

Terry Fox left Newfoundland on April 12th, 1980, beginning his cross-country Marathon of Hope to raise money for cancer research. He ran 5, 373 km, raising $1.7 million dollars before cancer appeared in his lungs and he was forced to stop near Thunder Bay, Ontario.
