Spanish Influenza
By order of the Port Coquitlam Board of Health, acting under powers conferred by the Provincial Board of Health, it has been decided to close all Schools, Churches, Theatres and Lodge meetings, and until further notice, all Public Meetings will be forbidden.
All persons owning or harbouring dogs, are hereby ordered to keep the same tied up, or under control on their own premises. Any dog found running at large is liable to be destroyed.
Citizens of Port Coquitlam
In the face of the terrible epidemic which is sweeping the country from one end to the other, I would ask you to observe all necessary precautions, and in particular, to forbid your children to frequent the depot and tis vicinity, as it is the trains which bring the germs from infected districts. Keep them warm and their feet dry. Congregating should be avoided. Smother your sneezes and cough, and then a handkerchief should be held before the mouth. Spitting on the sidewalks and streets is a public offence and will be punished accordingly. By attention to the above regulations and by keeping the body in as good a state of health as is possible a great deal of danger from Influenza may be avoided.
A.W. KEITH, Mayor
