Contemporary reproduction of The Death of Hector, a work in embossed copper crafted by Albert Gilles in 1933-1934 for Mae West
Photo: Palmyre Gilles
Created while Albert was living in the United States, this decorative work depicts a familiar scene from the Trojan War in which Achilles avenges the death of Patroclus by killing Hector, the hero of Troy. The artist’s works, based on drawings made by Albert, are still being reproduced to this day.
