François de Laval, bishop of New France

This print of François de Laval appears to be inspired by the only portrait of the bishop painted in New France, namely, the painting attributed to Jacques Leblond de Latour, circa 1700. Latour’s work is one of only two surviving portraits of François de Laval painted during his lifetime.
