Zenith Royal 500, 1956
Transistor Radio, Zenith: Model Royal 500 (1956), 15.5 x 10 x 4.5cm. Musée des ondes Emile Berliner.
This transistor radio is the Zenith Royal 500 from 1956. Often called the “Owl Eye” because of its front panel, the 500 was a top-of-the-line model and one of the longest running transistor radio series. Most of this model’s components were manufactured by Zenith itself. Their high quality means that many of them can still function today with the use of AA batteries.
