As part of Canada’s emergency preparedness during the Cold War, John Diefenbaker’s Conservative Government constructed a large bunker outside Ottawa. From the bunker, cabinet ministers, military leaders, and others would be able to lead the country following a nuclear attack. Radio was crucial to communicating with Canadians. A studio was installed in this once top-secret facility, which now operates as the “Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum.”
