“Columaire” Grandfather Clock Radio

A warm-coloured wood casing holds this radio, while only the clock dial is visible in the top part of this tall furniture piece.

This Westinghouse radio combined the functionality and prestige of a grandfather clock and a radio. It also linked ideas of time and radio programming. Its form calls to mind traditional furniture on the one hand and new, tapering skyscrapers on the other.
