Magnavox Speaker, 1922

The large speaker horn, as seen from the front, is attached to a small but heavy, square metal base.

This Magnavox loudspeaker would have been used with radio receivers in the 1920s in order to amplify the sound. The horn-shaped speaker is like those used in phonographs or gramophones. With loudspeakers, people could listen to radio together.
