Granite Chair 1965
Rossland Museum & Discovery Centre Collection
The Granite Chair was a significant undertaking for the RMSC. Built in 1965, the lift started at the lodge and went to the top of Granite Mountain. It consisted of 18 towers over 2500 metres (8200 feet). It was the first double chair and had the capacity to hold 650 people per hour.
Locals share stories of the Granite Chair (captions available in both EN and FR). View this video with a transcript (EN).
