Sean Valentine was born in Nakusp, BC in 1972. He began skiing at the age of 2 with his parents, Robin and Flori, and chasing after his older brother Brad. He and his family moved to Rossland in 1978, where he began his ski racing career in the Nancy Greene Ski League. He competed at all levels of the Red Mountain Racers until being named to the BC Ski Team at the age of 16.
In 1992, Sean joined the Canadian National Alpine Ski Team, competing in Canadian and US Championships, NorAms, Europa Cups, and World Cups. After retiring from the National Ski Team, Sean returned to Rossland and the Red Mountain Racers. While attending college, he spent two years as an assistant coach before taking on the role of Head Coach.
In 2009, with 31 consecutive years as a Red Mountain Racer, he retired from the sport. Sean still resides in Rossland with his wife Christie and sons Rhys and Thomas. He continues to ski at Red Mountain and enjoys watching the next generation of Red Mountain Racers.
