Patricia Stevens moved to Rossland with her husband, Bill, in 1961. Bill Stevens was born and raised in Rossland and had a significant influence on the local ski community. Bill was a strong skier and he skied competitively in Europe in the 1950s. He also qualified for the Olympic trials. After he and Patricia settled in Rossland, he set up training programs and routes for local kids to practice ski racing. Bill was Chief of Race for the 1968 du Maurier International. Bill and Patricia have two sons – Ken and Don – who are both strong skiers. Don competed in the 1988 Olympics. Bill and Patricia were involved in the Red Mountain Ski Club for many, many years on the Executive and as race volunteers.
