[Audio extract] Letter from Harriet Sheppard, Woodfield, September 8, 1846
Société d’histoire de Drummond, Fonds Famille Watts Newton; P380.
Woodfield, 8 September 1846
My Dearest Margaret,
Charlotte and Mr. Watts often send kind remembrances to you and to their Uncle and Aunt Mary. They are at present in their new house, which is built on the model of ours. Perhaps I mentioned that before. They are both comfortable houses, but we have not yet been able to paint. Next year Sheppard may be enabled to do so, however the rooms are very well without paint and may do for two or three years as they are. I shall not hurry William on the subject. I never do in matters where money is required.
Adieu dear Margaret, believe your
affectionate sister
