Starting in the second half of the 19th century, the 45-metre high Shawinigan Falls attracted a growing number of travellers who didn’t mind taking part in a trip that would last several hours from Trois-Rivières to admire the fall’s power and beauty. Their fame even crossed the ocean, as the London Times mentioned the falls in its edition from August 24, 1865.
