This aerial view taken in November 1940 illustrates the lumber industry’s significance in the landscape and development of La Tuque. Located in the heart of the city, the Brown Corporation plant employed 900 workers at that time.
The city of La Tuque as we know it is a cluster of areas combined. When La Tuque was founded in 1911, the villages of La Tuque and La Tuque Falls were united. Following an amalgamation of municipalities in 2003, La Tuque now encompasses seven sectors that covers an area almost as large as Belgium.
