The Rivers Are the Future
Our island has been marked by the unavoidable fact that it is surrounded by the Des Prairies and Mille-Îles rivers. They set the pace of our ancestors’ lives. They made agricultural, industrial and real estate development on the island possible. Throughout our history, the need to protect these irreplaceable environments has been recognized by residents. They developed plans to protect them, and it is thanks to their determination that the various levels of government have become involved with and supported these projects.
The two rivers have been central to the development of the Laval region and they will have an important role to play in the city’s future. We hope that our exhibition reminds everyone of the beauty and potential of these invaluable treasures.
