Mrs. Brault and her Dog

In the 19th century, the district known as Parc-Laval was largely rural. After the railway bridge between Bordeaux and Île Jésus was built in 1876, wealthy residents were able to work in the city and live in the country. The Brault family is a good example. Their Villa Bellevue on Pacifique Avenue was no simple summer cottage! The property was big enough to accommodate a pond for the children to canoe on and a miniature golf course. Gradually, the residents outnumbered the farmers. Fox ranches and summer cottages gave way to residential development projects.
