Our Shores, Our Riches
Shoreline of the Mitan Archipelago, property of the Conseil régional de l’environnement de Laval, 2000?
For many years, even with agricultural development, much of the shoreline environment was preserved. A wooded shoreline helps to maintain biodiversity and slows down soil erosion. However, as the cities developed, pressure grew to make use of all available space. Residents were on the alert! They lobbied municipalities to protect these natural environments. The arrival of the Conseil régional de l’environnement breathed new life into these efforts.
