On June 12, 1934, at the beginning of the strike, several hundred strikers and sympathizers joined in a picket line in front of the Horne mine gates. They would boo and mock the scabs hired by Noranda Mines. They even emulated tactics from the revolutionary union “Wobblie”, putting the women and their children in front of the picket line to deter police forces from using violence.
