In Rouyn’s early days, the owner of the Régal Theatre Ms. H.S. Cary used to lend her theatre to community groups that did not have anywhere to meet. In turns, sometimes on the same day, she would receive Catholics, Protestants, the City Council, and the school board. Furthermore, she always refused payment in exchange for this favour even in times of financial hardship.
