Until the 1950s, the Byzantine Catholic Ukrainians in Rouyn and Noranda did not have a permanent celebrant. However, a Ukrainian priest from Kirkland Lake in Ontario sometime came to celebrate Mass at the All Saints Anglican Church of Noranda. The construction of the Christ-Roi Ukrainian Catholic Church only started in 1955.
