This photo was taken after Rouyn was incorporated into a village municipality on May 6, 1926. Before that, the legislation did not allow the area to establish a Liquor Commission. In the late 1920s, there were only a few police officers on duty in Rouyn. Their place of operations was in a log cabin, which you can see on the left with a sign that reads, “Quebec Liquor Commission Police Office.”
