Picking apples
Fintry Archives
To ensure a successful orchard, Dun-Waters installed an irrigation system in 1912, drawing water down wooden stave pipes from the waterfalls behind the orchard.
Farm hands picked, and then graded and packed apples at the packinghouse on the wharf. At the peak of harvest, the packinghouse turned out a boxcar of apples a day, 670 boxes per load.
