The Manor House after the fire
Fintry Archives
Capt. Dun-Waters was in Vancouver when fire destroyed most of the Manor House, on June 27, 1924. At the time, workmen were building the trophy room addition and were able to rescue some of the furniture and artwork as well as most of the new addition. Sadly, all that remained of the main house were the stone walls, chimneys and Dun-Waters’s secret whisky cellar.
The fire was thought to have started in the attic from an unattended cooking pot.
