Looking East Towards the Harbour

This image is taken approximately from where the Oshawa Museum buildings stand today. Note the double level pier. When the lower portion of the coal shed was filled, the horses pulled the coal carts to the upper level and continued filling. If a horse slipped off this level, it required a considerable amount of expertise to get the poor animal back up.
