Oshawa Railway, Streetcar to the Lake
Source: Oshawa Museum, Archival Collection
Date: unknown
The Oshawa Railway Company operated their railway using electricity. The trolley (streetcar) cars, as seen in this photo, ran off a system of overhead wires known as catenary. The trolley was connected, through the roof of the car by two long rods. The rods linked the electrical current in the catenary to the trolleys engines thereby providing a source of power.
