The Midland Prince coal carrier unloading coal at the Oshawa Harbour in 1949. This video shows the cranes lifting the coal out of the shipping containers and placing it in piles on the west wharf of the Oshawa harbour. Two children appear in the video on the pier, watching the ship unloading coal.
The Midland Prince, coal carrier, made regular stops of at the Port of Oshawa. Coal was the main source for heating homes in Oshawa during the 1930s and 1940s.
This video was taken by Ches Burton. The two children in the video are Marilyn and Carl Burton.
