David Annis sold this home to Daniel Conant Oct 15 1846. Farewell did not live in this house at the time the picture was taken. It was still owned by David Annis.
Farewell bought the house years later from Daniel Conant. The picture captures “William Farewell Home on Marshland, 1844” was written after the Farewell’s took occupancy. The home was located on the west side of Farewell Street near Harbour Road in Oshawa, ON. In 1963, it was deliberately set on fire by the Oshawa Fire department for a training exercise.
